

1. ELIGIBILITY: Except as noted, the Wise County Youth Fair is open to any FFA, FCCLA, or 4-H member attending
school and/or living in Wise County. Exception: Youth living in Wise County and attending school outside Wise County
or living outside Wise County and attending school in Wise County and, being a member of FFA, FCCLA, and/or Wise
County 4-H, must agree and sign an affidavit to the effect that they will not show in any county show outside Wise
County. Age limits for 4-H are 8 years and in 3rd grade as of August 31, 2007. To be qualified to participate in the Wise
County Youth Fair, 4-H members must be on the roll in the County Extension Office by December 31, 2007. Jr. FFA
members must be on the membership roll at their respective school by January 1, 2008.
Departments B, and C: Open to FCCLA students only.
Departments D,E,F, and G: Open to 4-H members only.
Departments H,I,J,K,L,O,R,S, & T: Open to FFA and 4-H members.
Department M: Open to FFA, 4-H, and VICA members.
Department N: Open to any Wise County boy or girl 19 years of age or younger.
Department P: Open to one female FCCLA student, one female 4-H member, and one female FFA member chosen from
each club and/or chapter in Wise County.
2. ENTRIES: All entries must be on an official entry blank provided by the Wise County Youth Fair. ALL ENTRY CARDS
MUST BE SIGNED BY EXHIBITOR AND PARENT BEFORE BEING TURNED IN. These are available from FCCLA teachers,
FFA teachers, and 4-H adult leaders. Entries must be signed by FCCLA teachers, FFA teachers, and 4-H adult leaders
before they will be accepted by respective department superintendents.
The Entry Clinic will be held at the Ext. Office on Friday, February 15 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm and on Saturday,
February 16, 2008 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Late registration will be accepted for one (1) week after registration deadline, and a late entry fee will be charged of
three (3) times the original entry fee with a minimum of $10.00 (NO EXCEPTIONS).

3. ARRIVAL OF EXHIBITS: See Schedule of Events.
4. WEIGH—IN: See Schedule of Events.
5. OWNERSHIP: To be eligible for competition, each market steer, market hog, market lamb, market goat, beef heifer
and dairy sale heifer entry must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor or exhibitor’s immediate family, validated
under the exhibitor’s or family’s name with exhibitor declared at the time of weigh-in. In addition owners / exhibitors
must care for their own animals for the entire length of the feeding period which includes the Wise County Youth Fair
Auction sale. In cases of extreme hardship, approval must be received from the department superintendent to
prevent disqualification. Horses must belong to the exhibitor or immediate family. Market steers must have been
owned and ear-tagged on October 17, 2007 or state validated on June 13, 2007. All Breeding Beef must have been
owned on January 5, 2008. Registration papers are required on all breeding females. All non-registered beef will be
classified as AOB. They must be validated on January 5, 2008. Market hogs must have been owned and ear tagged
on January 5, 2008 or state validated in November . Dairy sale heifers must have been owned and ear-tagged on
January 5, 2008 (or tag-in date). Market lambs must have been owned, ear-tagged, nose printed and tattooed on
October 17, 2007 or January 5,2008. Goat wethers must have been owned and ear-tagged on January 5, 2008 (or tag-
in date). All meat rabbits must be tattooed and/or registered on February 24, 2008 from 2:00—4:00 at the Extension
Office to be eligible for the show. All rabbit entries are due on February 16, 2008. Broilers must be of the same hatch
and ordered through the Poultry Superintendent. Steers, market lambs, market hogs, and market wethers having
been sold at auction or by private treaty after the validation will be declared ineligible for the Wise County Youth Fair.
All other livestock entries must be owned at least thirty (30) days prior to the show date. Violators will be barred from
the show and further participation in the fair and will be subject to review by the Executive Committee.
6. The Market Swine show will be barrows only.
7. HEALTH: All entries will be subject to the same health requirements as needed at the major livestock shows. All
animals are subject to being checked as they enter the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds.
8. SHOWMANSHIP: Awards will be presented to the youth who exhibits his or her livestock entry to the best
advantage, including conditioning, fitting, and training.
9. HOUSEKEEPING: All exhibitors are encouraged to keep exhibit areas neat and clean. Special awards will be
presented to the Club, Chapter, or Individual who excels in this area.
10. LIABILTIY: Wise County, Officials of the Wise County Youth Fair or the Wise County Sheriff’s Posse will in no case
be responsible for any loss, injury or damage done to, or occasioned by or arising from any animal exhibited.
11. BARN AREA: Only exhibitors having sheep, hogs, cattle, and dairy goats in the show are permitted to remain in the
barn area overnight.
12. MISCONDUCT; Misconduct of exhibitors or family members may result in forfeiture of premium money, awards
and the right of the exhibitor to sell his animal in the auction sale. Serious misconduct will result in review by the
Executive Committee as to further participation in the Wise County Youth Fair by the exhibitor.
13. EXHIBITION REQUIREMENT: All exhibitors must show and sell their own projects with the following exceptions:
A) Exhibitor has 2 projects showing at the same time.
B) Extenuating circumstances to be determined on an individual basis by the Wise County Youth Fair Grievance
Committee.
- The exhibitor must bring a letter from the school stating the reason and dates of the conflict.
- Anyone approved as a substitute show person must meet the same requirements as the original exhibitor. (Age,
school
enrollment, etc.)
14. BEDDING: Refer to specific department rules.
15. GRIEVANCE RULE: Formal procedure for filing a grievance is as follows: Grievance must be turned in, in writing to
the Superintendent of the department with $100.00 fee, within two (2) hours of completion of show in question. The
department superintendent will be the official time keeper. If grievance is upheld by Department and/or Grievance
Committee, the fee will be refunded.
16. PROJECT LOCATION: All animals must stay in assigned stall space provided by Wise County Youth Fair
department superintendents.
17. DISPOSITION OF ANIMAL PROJECTS AFTER SHOW: At time of weigh-in all exhibitors must declare if they wish to
sell animal projects (that do not make the auction) on the floor.
Any market animal left in the barn after 5:00 pm on sale day will be put on the truck.
If a steer is floored and checked into the floor buyers assigned pin, they may not be taken back unless agreed to by
person or persons that have the floor price on the steers.
18. ANIMAL PROJECT GROOMING AND CLIPPING: All market animals must be shorn prior to arrival at fair grounds.
Minor touch up will be allowed at Department Superintendent’s discretion.
19. Wise County Youth Fair does not condone inhumane treatment of animals. Any action that
is inhumane or that can cause injury or death to an animal, that is entered in the Wise County
Youth Fair, will not be tolerated. No stomach pumps will be allowed at Wise County Youth Fair.
All complaints or violations will be referred to the Wise County Youth Fair Grievance
Committee which may take action and/or include the Wise County Youth Fair Executive Board.
Local authorities will be notified of all inhumane violations. Their actions will be separate and
beyond Wise County Youth Fair rulings.
20. DOGS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS DURING THE JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW. DOGS WILL BE
ALLOWED FOR THE DOG SHOW AND PET SHOW ONLY.
21. STATE AND FEDERAL SCRAPIE REQUIREMENTS:
All female sheep, both market and breeding, must have an official USDA Scrapie Eradication Program Identification
Tag and adhere to any current scrapie requirement as outlined by the Texas Animal Health Commission.
Tattoos may be used to identify registered or meat and dairy show goats, as long as the animals are accompanied by
their registration papers. All non-registered goats must have the USDA Scrapie Tag.
22. DRUG TESTING
The Wise County Youth Fair Association reserves the right to have blood, tissue samples, or urine laboratory analysis
taken on any animal entered for competition.
Any Exhibitor of an animal producing an analysis with a quantity of unapproved drug or medication will be subject to a
drug test on all animal projects exhibited at the Wise County Youth Fair in the future. Tests will be at the owner’s
expense.
First time offenders will forfeit any awards and premiums and /or auction sale monies. In addition, the family will be
barred from competition at the Wise County Youth Fair for one year. If a second test is needed it will be at the
exhibitors expense. Second time offenders and their family will be barred for life.
All market animals will be required to have a certification form signed by the following:

2. Parent or guardian
3. CEA or AST
