The 2024 Wise County Youth Fair Horse Show will be held:

          FEBRUARY 22 - 23, 2024

          NRS Training Arena

RULES AND INFORMATION

1. The General Rules of the Wise County Youth Fair, the 4-H Horse Show Rules and the following rules will govern the Horse Show.

2. Exhibitors from neighboring counties will be allowed to show in the Horse Show only. They will receive door prizes and ribbons. They must enter online. 4-H verification may be requested from each exhibitor.
*All premiums/High Point Awards will be awarded to Wise County participants only.

3. This show will be governed under the WCYF rules as well as State 4-H Horse Show rules.

4. The correct owner must be listed on the registration papers. Owners MUST be the youth, parent (biological or stepparent), brother, sister, grandparent, or legal guardian. ***NEW in 2024*** Lease horses are now eligible to be validated and shown at the County Show. An official Texas 4-H Horse Lese Agreement must be signed by the exhibitor, horse owner, and the supervising, CEA by December 16th.

5. Exhibitors may enter all classes but will be allowed to enter only one horse per class.

6. Exhibitors must check in with the Horse Show Secretary before your event begins. The secretary will assign each exhibitor an exhibitor number card. This card must be displayed on the exhibitor’s back during all classes. Show times are at 8:30 a.m.

7. No stallions will be allowed to show.

8. All exhibitors will show by grade.
Grade groups are:
          Juniors 3rd—8th grade
          Seniors 9th—12th grade


9. All exhibitors must bring their current negative Coggins with them to the horse show and present it at time of check-in.

10. All exhibitors should refrain from allowing their horse(s) to be ridden or schooled on the ground (including longeing and showmanship preparation) by anyone other that the exhibitor. Many 4-H'ers have family members who will want to help hold, groom, saddle, and bridle horses in preparation for classes. This is encouraged, because family involvement is an important part of the 4-H Horse Program. Any exhibitor or parent/coach mistreating or correcting an animal which is deemed excessive by the show management will be asked to leave the show grounds immediately and forfeit any and all show fees and premiums.

11. Validation papers must be mailed in by entry deadline. Papers are available online.

12. If case of a tie, the tie will be broken using state 4-H rules.

13.  All roping classes will use an electric eye or flagged barrier.

American Heritage/Endangered Breed
- No entry fees.
- The breed must be one from the current or prior year Livestock Conservancy Conservation Priority List as Critical or Threatened.
- All entries must have a registration or certification signed by the breeder.
- All "Heritage/Endangered" verification forms must be turned in at the time of registration and /or tag in.
- The highest placing animal of each class within the species will be eligible to compete.
- An award will be presented to the highest placing animal within the species.
- Placing of these animals will have no effect on qualifying for the auction sale.

          Amy Daniels Memorial Hi Point Award - Awarded to the participant from both days with the most points.

 - Roper Hi Point Classes Include: Tie-Down Calf Roping, Breakaway Roping, Heading and Heeling.
 - Timed Horseman Classes Include: Pole Bending, Barrel Racing, Stake Race, and Goat Tying.

Most total points earned with one or more horses/one rider.

American Heritage/Endangered Breed Forms should be filled out, signed and mailed or emailed to WCYF by the entry deadline or turned in with weight cards at weigh-in/classification.
