RABBIT - BREED IDENTIFICATION DIVISION

ELIGIBILITY
1.  Refer to the General Rules for Wise County Youth Fair eligibility guidelines.

2.  The Rabbit Breed Identification contest is open to all 4-H and FFA members.

3.  Contestants will be divided into three age categories. Age is determined as of August 31st of the previous calendar year.
          A) Juniors 8-10 years old
          B) Intermediates 11-13 years old
          C) Seniors 14-19 years old

4.   Contestants will participate as individuals not teams.

CONTEST FORMAT
1.  Each Junior contestant will be required to identify 15 rabbits, listing the complete breed name as printed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. They will also identify the showroom variety/classification (color) as listed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. No abbreviations are accepted.

2. Each Intermediate contestant will be required to identify 20 rabbits, listing the complete breed name as printed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. They will also identify the showroom variety/classification (color) as listed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. No abbreviations are accepted.

3. Each Senior contestant will be required to identify 25 rabbits, listing the complete breed name as printed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. They will also identify the showroom variety/classification (color) as listed in the ARBA Standard of Perfection. No abbreviations are accepted.

4. The contest will be held in the Rabbit Barn during the Rabbit Show. The contest will be set up in a designated area of the Rabbit barn. It will start at 11:00 am and will stop at 2:00 pm.

5.  Test Sheets will be provided to all participants.

SCORING
1. Contestants will receive five (5) points for each rabbit that is correctly identified and five (5) points for each variety/classification that is correctly answered. Points will only be awarded on the follow up questions (variety/classification) if the rabbit is correctly  identified.
     Total Points Possible Juniors - 150 points
     Total Points Possible Intermediates - 200 points
     Total Points Possible Seniors - 250 points


2.  Ties: Four (4) rabbits will be selected as tiebreakers in advance of the contest. Individuals with the highest cumulative scores for these four rabbits will win any ties. If a tie remains, winners will be determined by the toss of a coin.

3.  References: The following books and websites are recommended references. Individuals will also benefit from their own web searches and by visiting the different Rabbit Breed Clubs web sites.

AWARDS
1.  Ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 5th place individuals in each age division.

1.  Rabbit Breed Identification - Junior
2.  Rabbit Breed Identification - Intermediate
3.  Rabbit Breed Identification - Senior
